Money Heist is certainly one of the most compelling and popular shows on Netflix. It is dramatic and thrilling and has been loved by one and all. The show’s success lies in the fact that it has raced into the fourth season.
The characters and the tension of the characters continue to grow. This has been a blockbuster, so we are all intrigued by the show, wondering how it has become famous. So, here are some interesting facts on the show that makes it one of the must-watch series.
The Story Behind the Mask
Salvador Dali is one of the most famous Spanish Surrealist artists ever. And his contribution to the world of art is nothing short of amazing. His penchant for bizarre style has left a big impression on the Spanish people and the rest of the world.
The Spanish people are proud of his work, and their way of showing their tribute to the great artist was to use his famous face as a mask. This helped pay respect and the artist and bring the world’s attention to his work.
The Inspiration Behind the Names
Often the brilliant ideas are inspired by the simple things that happen in our lives. The series is all about edgy characters who use city names to identify themselves. There has been a lot of thought thrown into this. The Money Heist creator Alex Pina started coming to work, and he had no idea that he would set to inspire his colleague Jesus Colmenar by choosing the right shirt which had the word ‘Tokyo’ on it. As Colmenar saw him, the idea struck him, and he used it as a source of inspiration.
The Story Behind the Location
The production of this popular series had to create an impact and filmed a big scene at The Royal Mint of Spain, managed by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Business. However, despite putting in their best efforts, they could not seek permission to shoot there.
So, the production had to come with a location that resembled what they had in their mind. Thanks to Madrid being such a versatile place, it boasted many historic buildings that resemble a lot like the Spanish National Research Council (CSIS). They shot a couple of scenes while the rest of the shots were in a studio.
The Interesting Choice of Title
A show depends a lot on the title. It is generally the first impression. If the title is catchy, it is bound to stick. The show’s original title was La Casa de Papel, in Spanish, and although the title turned out to be just right, it wasn’t their first choice. Alex Pina, the creator, had originally thought of the show title to be Los Desahuciados, which, when translated in English, turned out to be, The Outcasts.
Since the characters in the show were social outcasts, he thought it to be an appropriate title. Later, the show was called La Casa de Papel. In the opening scene, the cast is seen robbing the Royal Mint, essentially nothing but a paper house.
Popular and How!
The show’s premiere was in May 2017, and it immediately kickstarted to high ratings. But with time, the ratings started falling, and even the grand finale of the show failed to bring up the numbers. It was just on the verge of being canceled when Netflix came to the rescue. The streaming giant knew a winner when they spotted one. There was an immediate turnaround, and with such speed and alacrity, the series enjoyed a dramatic turnaround.
The popularity increased with such drastic speed that there was no doubt that there was a chance of a third and a fourth season. And since then, the show went beyond the boundaries of Spain, and the whole world fell in love with the intriguing show. We give credit to the show’s dynamism, storytelling, direction, production values, and incredible acting skills of the lead cast. It has certainly turned out to be one of the most popular heists shows ever, giving a run for the more popular movies on the big screen. So, have you watched the show yet?
